Our dedicated Student Services Team offer a bespoke service to guide and support you during your time here at BMC.
You’ll have access to Student Services who will provide advice and guidance covering all elements of student life; from domestic issues such as accommodation, to financial advice regarding bills and rent, loans and grants.
Our independent service is offered by trained advisors, who take a holistic approach to your time at BMC and will ensure they provide ongoing support for your general health and wellbeing.
You’ll get expert assistance regarding your career progression and a host of pastoral matters, you’ll gain a personalised experience and there will always be a point of contact in case there is anything you need to discuss.
Careers, employment and work experience
The Careers and Progression Team will seek to support your career development, employability and progression into further learning or work. They will organise work placements for you to develop your employability skills. Provide support when applying for employment and/or further study including, CV writing, job applications and preparing for interviews.
Health, safety and wellbeing
A dedicated team has been established to provide a safe, secure and healthy learning environment for you.
They will provide information, advice, guidance on health and well-being through promotional campaigns, tutorials and enrichment programmes. We also have a health and wellbeing centre allowing drop-in sessions.
The welfare team are here to provide a welfare advice and support service to help deal with funding, financial, housing and other welfare needs.
They will provide information, advice and guidance on the types of funding available to you and liaising with relevant funding agencies to make it more easy for you. Organising and make recommendations for college funding awards. Offering guidance to help you with budgeting and money/debt management.
They also provide a welfare service to support those with disabilities.
The Learner Engagement Advisor
We support voice of the learner and engaging with you in all aspects of college life.
- Support activities of a new Student Council and offer guidance to student governors and course-based learner reps.
- Develop extra-curricular enrichment activities for you and support your personal development.
- Organise college-wide learner surveys and campus-based learner consultation forums.
- Ensure effective arrangements for learner consultation and representation in teaching departments, within college-wide guidance standards.
- Co-ordinate the college complaints, compliments and suggestions scheme for you.
