This course has given me the tools I need to continue my studies in this field, it has also given me a platform and the support system that lacks in other universities, to audition and apply for places such as the New York Film Academy (NYFA) where I will be studying when I finish at BMC.
I have been able to meet some highly influential people within my time at the college, being a student representative within my first academic year meant that I was involved with free workshops; it helps for students to meet companies and practitioners from the professional world.
The course here is a great mix of theory and turning that theory into practical work using some of the best equipment such as the black magic camera. BMC isn’t like universities that are huge and you’re just treated like a number. Here you are given 100% support. You’re encouraged to take part in professional projects, film festivals and competitions. You get to know the tutors here. It feels like you’re part of a close-knit family.
I chose BMC to study my HND because I loved the course that I had done before and I loved the facilities, the horses and the staff. I like all of the lectures, which are both theory and practical based. They are fun yet informative. I also enjoy being able to ride, we have weekly lessons in both flat and jump, which really helps everyone to improve their riding.
Once I completed the foundation degree and was informed that Brooksby were providing the BSc top-up, my decision to stay was easy. I loved the college, the new HE centre made it easier to get work done. I had known the teachers for four years already so was used to their way of teaching and the modules the course provided made it much more attractive than going elsewhere.
Doing the HND has helped further my future career as it has given me an insight into various aspects of the equine industry, with regards to events management, performance horse management and research projects. The different modules within the course gave me an insight into different areas of the industry, so that I could focus on which area was most interesting to me with regards to a future career.
