The programme has been constructed to allow for the development of fundamental knowledge, strength and conditioning, performance analysis and coaching in year one. These skills are enhanced and applied in year two.
This Foundation Degree in Sports Science offers a unique opportunity to individualise students’ learning towards their personal career goals and create a subject specialism in their preferred subject area. Research projects as well as an applied experience module will enable students to tailor their learning to determine their subject specialism in sports and equip them with skills and experience for their desired career.
Alongside their study, students will have the opportunity to gain additional vocational professional qualifications at an additional cost to enhance their future employability in coaching or personal training strength and conditioning or teaching.
All students will be given guaranteed placement opportunities either at our brand new Sports Centre, within local primary or secondary school, through other local sports partnerships, or with the college’s professional sports partners Leicester Tigers, or Leicester City Women’s FC. The type and location of the placement is dependent upon students’ chosen pathway and desired future career.
Upon completion of the two year programme students will be equipped with all the skills they need to gain employment in their chosen area or continue their studies onto the Top-Up Degree.
