This final year degree in sports science offers students an opportunity to individualise their learning, focussing on their unique interests and creating a subject specialism in their preferred area. A research project, as well as an applied experience module, will allow students to tailor their learning to determine their subject specialism in sports and equip them with skills and experience for their desired career.
Alongside their study, students will have the opportunity to gain additional vocational professional qualifications at an additional cost to enhance their future employability in coaching, personal training, strength and conditioning or teaching.
All students will be given placement opportunities either at our brand new sports centre, within local primary or secondary schools or with the college’s professional sports partners Leicester Tigers, Mansfield Town Football Club or Leicester City Women’s FC, depending on students’ chosen pathway and desired future career.
BMC Sport Academies
Students also have the opportunity to play for the Mansfield Town Football Academy, the Leicester Tigers Rugby Academy, or Leicester City Women’s FC Academy, allowing them to experience high-level training and competitions alongside studying for their Degree Level qualifications at BMC (subject to trial).
If students play for any of these academies during their time at BMC, they will benefit from professional football or rugby coaching from the respective clubs. Coaches include ex-professional players that provide high quality coaching to ensure that students are able to play to their highest ability.
In addition, academy players will have access to BMC’s strength and conditioning gym, where a qualified strength and conditioning coach will be available to ensure that players are in the optimal physical condition for their sport. A physio and an analyst will also be available.
