The BA (Hons) Digital Film Production (Top-Up) is excellent training for careers in the film, television and new media industries. This course develops students’ academic rigour, technical skills and personal creativity. Students will be trained to become not only multi-skilled Practitioners, Directors and Producers, but also confident, critical thinkers, able to forge a career in a predominantly freelance industry.

The course has produced award winning practitioners within the Digital Film Production sector. Students benefit from a range of excellent facilities at BMC, including state-of-the art digital camera systems, a 20ft Green Screen, and industry-standard editing software and Mac products.

Students will also hone their team-working skills to allow them to respond effectively to the needs of this dynamic industry, with opportunities to collaborate with industry clients and Performing Arts students. Students are also able to put their skills to the test by working on live briefs and entering competitions.

Teaching is linked directly with professional practice. Guest practitioners and work experience opportunities help students to learn about their roles and the environments in which digital media practitioners work so they can become effective in the workplace.

Students are assessed through vocational, theoretical and practical competence tests. Formative assessment is also conducted throughout each module to ascertain the progress each student is making.


Students can progress onto a post graduate Degree, enter employment, or work within the freelance industry.

Enrichment and Employability

You will be given the chance to enter national film making competitions and be able to take part in national and international trips. In the past, Digital Film Production students have been to London, Berlin, New York, Encounters Film Festival and LA.
