The 2016-17 academic year has been highly successful for BMC’s Level 5 Sport students. The students, who are all studying Higher National Diplomas in Sports Leadership and Coaching, have played a vital role in planning and delivering the Sports sessions at BMC’s Open Days, Taster Days, and Sports Festivals.
The students have also been involved with a number of local schools, who have had nothing but positive feedback for their professionalism and leadership skills. The BMC Sports department have commended the students on how well they have represented the college’s Higher Education provision, demonstrating the success of BMC courses in producing work-ready students.
In addition, HND Sport student Kieran Brown has recently secured his dream job role as a Physical Trainer in the Royal Air Force. This has been Kieran’s ultimate goal since starting at BMC on the Level 3 Sports programme. Kieran has also been able to complete Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications in Personal Training at BMC, which are fundamental for his new job role as a Physical Trainer. Kieran has also been employed by BMC as Facilities Supervisor in the Sports department, which has allowed him to provide personal training for a range of clients and has provided vital experience for his future career.
Another outstanding student who has completed a HND in Sports Coaching and Development is James McKnight. James has excelled academically during the 2016-17 academic year, achieving distinctions in every assignment. In addition, James has played a vital role this year alongside his studies: he has taken part in a bespoke Performance Analysis internship provided by BMC and Mansfield Town Football Club. The performance analysis and support provided by James throughout this internship has been instrumental in assisting Mansfield Town FC with their unprecedented success this year, with back-to-back title wins in the Youth Alliance League.
Brooksby Melton College’s Sports department has recently benefitted from a £4million investment, meaning that students are able to study and train in state-of-the-art facilities. These include a full-sized 3G all-weather pitch, a strength and conditioning gym, and a brand new sports hall. In addition, students are able to study in BMC’s sports science lab, which features GPS tracking systems, force platforms, and VO2 Max testing equipment.
